Ladies Night: Championship comes down to one game
WNBA continues to increase fan base with improved coverage

Cheryl Ford of the Shock The Detroit Shock surprised the Sacramento Monarchs with a 72-52 win in Game 4 of the 2006 WNBA Finals on Wednesday night, sending the championship series to a fifth and deciding game on Saturday in Detroit.

And since the NBA and college basketball have yet to fire up, it’s the women who have the basketball stage all to themselves. Defending champion Sacramento will be looking to claim the team’s second straight league title with a win on Saturday.

Detroit won Game 4 on the road as a 5.5-point underdog, while the final score fell UNDER the posted total (143). The Monarchs took Game 1 on the road comfortably, cruising to a 24-point victory. After Detroit evened up the series at one apiece, Sacramento reclaimed home court advantage by winning its second game just as easily, 89-69.

Game 4 marked the Monarchs’ first loss of the playoffs on home-court, and only their second overall playoff defeat.

As playoff coverage has been as good as it’s ever been for the WNBA, the ultimate effect has been an increased backing from bettors, and the men giving all props to the ladies.

With BetJamaica, bettors can find all of their WNBA wagering at the sportsbook. One customer has even gone so far to saying that the reason he enjoys the WNBA is because its style is unlike anything else he watches.

It is contested at the pro level, yet has a collegiate feel with more strategy and teamwork being worked into the plays, and with coaches (including Shock coach Bill Laimbeer) that are more involved throughout the games.
